These are the people that are making this race possible for me. I sincerely wish to thank everyone involved for their support. Without these great sponsors, I would not be able to race in the 2010 Singlehanded Transpac. Please take a moment to look at all of these great companies' sites and support them.
Hope for the Warriors is the title sponsor of this program. They are a national non profit organization whose mission statement is to "improve the quality of life for US Service Members and their families who have been adversely affected by combat injuries and/ or death. The organization boasts a 92% fiscal efficiency rate, with only 8% of total donations going towards administrative costs. I myself am a severely wounded Iraqi war veteran, and as such, I truly believe in helping promote Hope for the Warriors' worthy cause and look forward to helping other wounded veterans.
Bluestorm is the official foul weather gear supplier of our program. They are an industry leader in lifejackets and foul weather gear, utilizing the most modern materials, construction methods and design elements currently available. I will be wearing their new "Latitude 61" bib and jacket, along with their new "Pro Sail 33" automatic inflation PFD with integrated sailing harness. Bluestorm, and their distributor, Marine Tech International have both been awesome to work with, and I look forward to wearing their gear in the Transpac and continuing to work with these great companies.
Marina Village Yacht Harbor in Alameda has been a major help to the program. They are located in the heart of the Marine Industry in Alameda. Well protected and calm, while being very close to West Marine and Svendson's, and a short sail up the estuary to the Bay. Nice docks, nice facilities and a great harbormaster in Allan Weaver. When I get back from Hawaii, I will try to keep my next boat here!

Teleflex Marine is one of the oldest, largest, and most well respected companies in the marine hydraulic industry, and they have come on board to help us out with our hydraulic steering needs. We are installing one of their new hydraulic cylinders, in addition to their hydraulic pump, which is already on the boat. Reliable self-steering is one of, if not the single most important thing on any solo ocean racing yacht, and I am very happy to have such high quality hydraulics on the boat.
PYI Inc. is the U.S. importer and distributor of Jefa rudder bearings from Sweden. Jefa rudder bearings are of the highest quality, and are the industry standard in bearings, appearing on most professional racing yachts. Our old Harken rudder bearing was no longer made, and needed replacing. With no replacement option from Harken, we decided to go the custom route. Between locating and purchasing materials, having them custom machined, having them anodized, and then custom fitting a part, this was proving difficult. Fortunately, PYI contacted us and offered to help out by selling us a bearing at a a discount, which, to be honest, has saved the day for us. |

Bay Marine Boatworks has been an absolutely huge help to us. Upon arrival in San Francisco, they took the boat off the trailer, put it on stands, helped us step the mast, allowed us some yard time and then splashed the boat. The manager and yard manager are both extremely friendly and helpful, and the yard offers a travel lift, chandlery, rig shop, paint services, electrical services, re-powers, etc etc. Bay Marine is one of the best and most respected yards on the Bay and I can not thank them enough for their help. I would very highly recommend using them if you need a haul out or service done to your boat.
Icom has been a huge help to our program, giving us an incredible deal on one of their new M-802 Single Sideband radios, and an AT-140 Auto Tuner. SSB radio is required by the race committee for daily check-in's and as a safety feature. And for good reason; because they can save your life. When my old cruising boat lost it's rudder in a hurricane, more than 800 miles from land, it was an ICOM 710 SSB and AT-140 that allowed me to call for rescue. I will also be using this system, in conjunction with a modem, to send e-mails and blogs from sea, during the race.
Nobody does bottom paint better than Interlux. Interlux has hooked us up with a gallon of Baltoplate; one of their best anti-fouling racing bottom paints. "Warrior's Wish" has already used Baltoplate in the last Singlehanded Transpac, as well as the last two Bermuda 1-2's, with great results and a great finish. We have also used Interlux paints on the deck, on the rudder, in the bilge, and on our custom dodger.
