My last few days in Bulgaria were amazing, meeting some really nice people and seeing some amazing sights. After a relaxing few days, I have crossed into Serbia. I've had a week's worth of great weather, with plenty of sunshine and almost no rain. Now pushing north to Belgrade, and then on up to Hungary.

Disregard everything I said in my last blog entry about Bulgaria. This place rocks. The cycling has been really difficult and slow, but I guess it'd be boring if it were always easy and fast, so... I plan to take a few days off in Sofia, maybe get a tune up, and then head to Belgrade, Serbia. I gotta say, while slow and tedious, the trip from Istanbul to here has been AWESOME.

I made it to Bulgaria today! I took the wrong road and ended up going over the huge mountain range that I was trying to avoid. It ended up being very very slow and difficult, but not as bad as I had feared. In the end, the scenery made it more than worth it. Crossing into Bulgaria was easy. I'm again amazed at how different two places can be, just by crossing a border. Definitely in Eastern Europe... Should be in Bulgaria's capital of Sofia in two days.

I should be crossing the border into Bulgaria tomorrow, but in somewhat fitting fashion, I have a mountain range in between my hotel and Bulgaria. This sums up cycling in Greece. I've only been here a week, but it's difficult. It's extremely hilly, windy, and has rained every single day except for one. May is a very rainy month here. When the sun comes out though, Greece is an absolutely beautiful country, and the people here are absolutely incredible. I'm excited to move into my next country, but I have enjoyed Greece, and hope to come back one day.

I've crossed from Turkey into Greece. Greece is really nice, and I like it a lot, but it's EXPENSIVE. Especially after the countries that i've been traveling in. It's also quite a difficult country to cycle through, with it's constant hills. Headed to Bulgaria next.

The last few days have been really unique in that there has been more "stuff" to see per kilometer than anywhere in my entire trip, to this point. I pedaled to Troy, and also rode around the whole Gallipoli Peninsula looking at World War 1 stuff. Incredible. I also spent a couple of days rained in, in Gelibolu. I rode about 120 km today, to Kesan, and am only about 35 or 40 km from the border of Greece. I should be on the beach in Greece tomorrow!

The last few days have been absolutely epic, but very difficult and tedious at the same time. I am finding myself on a route that I never really predicted, and for the first time in my trip i'm going completely out of the way for days, just to see stuff that peaks my curiosity. I'm in no hurry here. At all. I nearly flew off a cliff yesterday, removed a broken front derailleur, replaced my chain, camped out on a cliff by the sea, and have seen some beautiful scenery. My time in Turkey is turning into one of the highlights of my trip.
