The last four days were incredible. A highlight of my trip for sure, as I crossed over the very beginning of the Alps, from Vienna to Salzburg. I got lost, got rained on, camped out every night, drank from streams, and really fell in love with Austria. Now i'm in Salzburg with Mathias from the band in Belgrade, heading to Germany tomorrow. Viva Osterreich!

Before leaving for Salzburg, Herby wanted to show me around Vienna a bit, so we hopped into the car with Mia (the 1 and a half year old) and took off. We just drove around for a bit, about an hour, so that he could show me some of the city, and explain what things were. When we got back, I started getting packed and ready to go, while Martina and him made lunch. Martina made this really good stew, with corn and lots of vegetables. Really filled me up and gave me energy for hours. We said our good byes in the yard, and then I took off. Herby and Martina were so nice to me, and staying with them was really enjoyable. A big thanks to them for hosting me.

I crossed the border into Austria from Slovakia, and made it to Vienna. Nice ride, but not without it's own drama. I nearly got arrested and to an extent got physically assaulted by a police officer. I'm now in Vienna with Herby, the saxophone player from the band that I met in Belgrade.

I had to dodge rain showers, non stop, for 2 days to make it here from Budapest. Now it's freaking freezing and still raining. I was supposed to leave for Vienna today, but this weather is sooo unappealing to ride in. I also realized how small this world is, in  which we live....

Budapest is a lovely city, nicely laid out and with beautiful architecture. The ride up here from Szeged was pretty decent, if not a bit boring. Should be two days to Bratislava, Slovakia from here.

It was a pretty boring ride from Szeged, so there's really not a ton to write about regarding that. I will instead concentrate on some other important aspects of this leg of the trip;

I crossed the border into Hungary yesterday. Serbia is behind me, and i'm kind of sad about that, but i'm looking forward to seeing Hungary and the places after it. It was a pretty nice ride into Hungary, and it seems like a nice country so far. I weathered an incredibly intense storm two nights ago, while camping out in Serbia. For the second time in a week, I was caught out with no money and no way to access it. Lame.

I lost my wallet in Belgrade, and was delayed in leaving by a couple of days. I was pretty annoyed by losing my wallet, but there are far worse places to be stranded. Belgrade is awesome! After a couple more very unexpected but equally enjoyable days in the nation's capital, I left for Novi Sad, another extraordinarily cool city in Serbia's north. Hungary is just a bit more than 100 km away...

Belgrade; Serbia's capital and largest city really is an incredible place. It's got to be one of the most lively and cultural places i've ever been to. The more that I see of Serbia, the more that I like it. The trip here from Sofia was a good one, and now i'm headed to a couple of more places in Northern Serbia, and then onto Hungary. I think i've pretty much planned out the rest of my route across Europe, too. Hungary here I come...
